WATERFORD'S  PRIDE  FESTIVAL

A celebration of Waterford’s inclusion and diversity, Pride of the Déise promotes Waterford City as a safe place for everyone. A mixture of speakers, workshops and performances culminates in a Pride festival that everyone can be proud of and benefit from. Our second annual event takes
place this June bank holiday 2021.

Queer young people in sports

Zoom panel discussion chaired by Sean Butler exploring how sport can include and be a safe space for queer young people*

Queer Vision

A film festival featuring content submitted by local LGBTQ+ artists and filmmakers.

7pm

Queer Open Mic

The LIT festival & Pride of the Déise present an evening of young queer performances on Zoom*

8pm

Drag and Draw

Part Drag act, part life drawing, a life-drawing session with a drag queen model.

 



SATURDAY 5th JUNE

Yoga with Zenda

A fun and energetic yoga workshop.

LINC-Out Waterford Official Launch Celebrations

Linc’s official launch as part of the Pride of the Déise celebrations: bring a paper, pen and envelope if you would like to take part in a virtual time capsule. To register, email alison@linc.ie or contact 0870529811.

Animation Workshop

Hosted by Ann Upton and taking inspiration from zine culture, this workshop will focus on using an animated collage technique to explore issues of identity.

Writing Workshop/ Ceardlann scíbhneoireachta

Le linn nócha nóiméid, tabharfar ar aistear tríd shaothar filí aeracha n hÉireann le Ciara Ní É. Beidh seans chun teicníc a phlé agus deis do phíosa féin a scríobh.

Ciara Ni É hosts a tour of LGBTQ+ Irish language poets and their work followed by a chance to discuss technique, a walkthrough of some exercises and an opportunity to write your own piece and share at the end of this 90 minute Irish writing extravaganza.

Pride Celebration

The illustrious Lady Fifi Fondue will be hosting an afternoon of Pride entertainment live from Garter Lane. Leading out the show are our guests of honour, the people of Waterford, as our virtual Parade kicks off at 4pm followed by live music and DJs into the evening with musical highlights from OpenTempo DJs and Neil Flynn.

Insta Live stream with Pride of the Déise’s Youth Committee giving you all the lowdown on all things LGBTQ+

Queer History

Discussion and questions & answers session on Queer History in Ireland

Queer Sex Ed Workshop

Personal development workshop for 14–17-year-olds exploring identity, consent and knowing yourself facilitated by Sean Frayne from BeLonGTo

Digital Disco

It's gonna be a blast, kahoot quiz and craic zooming into your living rooms, featuring quiz prizes, getting dolled up in your best pride gear and strutting your stuff on your own personal dancefloor!
